Alexis Master (attrib.) · The Journey of the Magi from St. Albans Psalter, c.1130
Three kings ride in single file beneath the star, their horses painted in improbable blues, pinks and ochres inside a patterned border. The page comes from the St Albans Psalter, made in England around 1130 and now in Hildesheim, Germany. The artist is known only as the Alexis Master, after the life of St Alexis illustrated in the same book.
