Fra Angelico · The Annunciation, 1426
The angel and the Virgin under an arcade, with the garden of Eden and the expulsion painted small at the left, so the fall and the remedy for it sit in one frame. Fra Angelico painted several versions of this subject; the architecture is carefully measured and the two figures mirror one another exactly.
