Ridolfo Ghirlandaio · The Coronation of the Virgin with Six Saints (detail), 1504
A detail lifted from a much larger altarpiece, which is why the composition looks cropped. Ridolfo was the son of Domenico Ghirlandaio, in whose workshop the young Michelangelo trained, and he inherited the family business and its habit of painting Florentine faces onto everyone in scripture.
