Cyril Power · The Eight, 1930
A rowing eight reduced to repetition: eight backs, eight sets of arms, one line of oars, all caught at the same point of the stroke. The linocut technique forces the simplification, since each colour is a separate block cut by hand, and Power used that limit to make speed out of pattern rather than out of detail.
