Egon Schiele · Seated Woman with Bent Knee, 1917
Gouache and pencil on paper, made in the last year of Schiele's life. The pose is awkward on purpose: the bent knee pushes towards the viewer and breaks the figure into angles. He drew several hundred of these, working fast, and the confidence of the outline is the whole performance.
