Eric Ravilious · Newt Pond, 1932
A pond in flat country, painted in the pale, chalky palette Ravilious favoured, with the water given as bare paper and a few dragged strokes. He worked almost entirely in watercolour by choice rather than as a study for anything, which was unusual for a painter of his standing at the time.
