Eric Ravilious · Train Landscape, 1939
A railway carriage interior, with the Westbury white horse framed in the window as if it were a picture hung on the wall of the compartment. The seat upholstery gets as much attention as the view. It is the clearest example of the device Ravilious used all his life: looking at landscape through a made object.
