Eric Ravilious · Two Women in a Garden, 1933
One of the few Ravilious watercolours with people in it, and even here the two figures are handled as shapes in the garden rather than as portraits. The planting, the path and the fence get the detailed work; the women are left broad, which reverses what the subject would normally demand.
