Eric Ravilious · Westbury Horse, 1939
The chalk horse cut into the hillside at Westbury, drawn as a flat white shape against the dragged, dry green of the downland. Ravilious returned to the hill figures repeatedly. The fencing and the track in the foreground are what give the hill its scale.
