Goyō Hashiguchi · Kamisuki (Combing the Hair), 1920
A woman combing her hair, printed from carved woodblocks in the shin-hanga manner, with the flesh tones built up through many close impressions. Hashiguchi supervised his own carving and printing rather than leaving it to the publisher, which is why the register is so exact and the editions so small.
