Joaquín Sorolla · Walk on the Beach, 1909
His wife Clotilde and their daughter María, walking the beach in white, with the wind taking the hats and hems and the whole picture leaning slightly with it. Sorolla has dropped the horizon very low so the two figures stand against sky rather than sea. The white is not one colour but blue, lilac and yellow doing the work of shadow.
