Ohara Koson · Two Women in the Rain, 1925–36
Two women under umbrellas in rain, one of the relatively few figure subjects Koson made among hundreds of birds and flowers. The rain is cut as fine parallel lines straight across the whole design, a convention Japanese printmakers had used for a century before him.
