Vincent Van Gogh · Irises, 1890
Cut irises in a vase, one of four flower pieces painted at Saint-Rémy in his last spring there. The background was originally a much stronger pink, and the red pigment has faded over a century, so the colour relationship Van Gogh actually built is no longer the one on the wall.
